What this extension does

Page to Markdown downloads the page you are viewing — an article, a PDF, or raw text — as a clean, Markdown file suitable for reading or feeding to another tool. Conversion happens locally in your browser. The only output is a .md file saved through your browser's normal download mechanism.

Data collection

This extension does not collect any data. Specifically, it does not:

• Send page content, converted files, or browsing history to any server
• Use analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or any third-party tracking SDK
• Collect personally identifiable information, health information, financial information, authentication credentials, or communications
• Sell or transfer any data to third parties
• Use or transfer data for purposes unrelated to converting the current page to Markdown
• Use or transfer data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes

Data processed locally

To do its job, the extension reads the content of the tab you actively ask it to convert (via the toolbar button, keyboard shortcut, or right-click menu) and processes it entirely in memory, on your device. It is never accessed in the background or without your action. The result is written directly to a file on your computer through the browser's download API.

Settings storage

Your preferences (such as filename format, conversion options, and per-site settings) are saved using the browser's local extension storage. This data stays on your device, is never synced to any server operated by us, and is never transmitted anywhere.

Permissions

• Active Tab / Scripting — read the current tab's content only when you trigger a conversion, so the extension can turn it into Markdown.
• Downloads — save the converted Markdown file to your Downloads folder.
• Context Menus — add "Convert to Markdown" entries to the right-click menu as an alternate way to start a conversion.
• Storage — save your own settings locally, as described above.
• Optional site access — requested only when you ask to convert a page that requires fetching content directly (for example, a PDF or a page the extension cannot read from the live tab), and only for the specific site you approve.

Third parties

This extension does not integrate with, embed, or send data to any third-party service. All processing (including PDF parsing) runs using code bundled inside the extension itself — nothing is fetched from a remote server at runtime.

Children's privacy

This extension does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children, because it does not collect data at all.

Changes to this policy

If this extension's data practices ever change, this page will be updated accordingly before the change takes effect, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect it.
